Seattle IP American Inn of Court

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM 2Ls & 3Ls

FOR 2024-2025 STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

Deadline:  Thursday, August 15, at Noon

The Seattle Intellectual Property (IP) American Inn of Court is an organization dedicated to improving the skills, ethics, and professionalism of the Seattle IP Bar, with law students, lawyers, academics, and judges participating.  Members typically meet once per month during the academic year on Thursday evenings for networking and a continuing legal education (CLE) program focused on education and skills development.  Students are required to attend monthly meetings and participate in presenting CLE programs.

The first meeting of the year will be held the evening of September 19. Details about the meeting and the schedule for the year will be provided to students who are selected for membership.  An orientation for student members will be held at the beginning of the first meeting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for 2L and 3L students to build professional relationships with IP attorneys and judges.  The Inn has a robust mentoring program that involves “pod” meetings with highly regarded, local attorneys serving as mentors, as well as opportunities for one-to-one mentoring.  Annual dues for students this year will be $50. More information about participating in the program can be found on the Seattle IP Inn of Court website.

APPLICATION PROCESS

2Ls and 3Ls may apply for membership by sending an updated 1 page resume and a thoughtful and compelling statement of interest (maximum 250 words) to Josie Mitchell, Associate Director in the Center for Professional Development. Your statement should describe your interest in Intellectual Property and why you wish to join the Seattle IP Inn of Court.

This is a competitive process, as there are eight spots available for Seattle University law students during the 2024-25 academic year.
