NETWORK, NETWORK, NETWORK...
Networking allows you to do two important things: first, it allows you to gather information and advice; and second, it helps you develop professional relationships. Our hope is that you'll achieve both of these goals through the fair.

You’ve done your due diligence, you’ve researched the firms, and you’ve constructed great questions to ask of the attorneys, now you’re ready to NETWORK!

Make the most of this opportunity by connecting with as many attorneys as possible. Don’t limit yourselves to only those firms collecting resumes, that would be a mistake; every year students make connections with attorneys who weren’t seeking resumes, those connections lead to major opportunities. Ask the attorneys meaningful questions about their firms and practice areas, get contact information, follow-up, and stay in touch. This is an outstanding opportunity to make connections for the future and your participation in this event will play a critical role in your job search strategy this year, and into the future.

March 4, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Campion Ballroom

Preparing for the March 4th Small Firm Fair

Continue to check Symplicity as we add outstanding firms—Ahlers & Cressman, Saku Collins, Schulkin Rein, and other great additions will now be joining us.

On the day of the event please arrive in interview dress with resumes and business cards on hand. When you enter Campion Hall for the fair, check in at the student registration table to get a name tag before proceeding to the ballroom.

The purpose of this fair is to give you an opportunity to network with and gain knowledge from the 40+ firms and organizations in attendance. Do your due diligence and come prepared with strong questions for the attorneys.

BE PROACTIVE. Don’t limit yourselves to only those firms collecting resumes. This is an excellent chance to make connections for the future, be sure you talk with as many attorneys as possible.

4th Annual Solo, Small and Mid-Sized Firm Information, Networking and Career Fair
March 4, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Seattle University, Campion Ballroom

Indian Law Center (Washington, D.C.)

The Indian Law Center is Washington, D.C., is seeking legal interns (unpaid) for summer 2010. They would like applicants to be familiar with Indian Law and International Law. Spanish/English skills also are desired. The Center is flexible about interns' time commitments. Interns will work on issues that include: (1) Multilateral Development Bank; (2) Protecting the communities, resources and local environment of the Guatamalan Maya Q'eqchi; (3) Strengthening Indigenous Rights in the Inter-American Human Rights System; (4) Drafting an American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; and (5) Capacity Building with Indigenous Leaders. Application deadline is 2/26/2010, but they recommend you apply ASAP.

Please send your resume, cover letter, and contact information to as soon as possible. Be sure to specify that you are interested in the summer program, and tell them the time you plan to spend in the internship.

The Indian Law Resource Center is a non-profit, legal advocacy organization dedicated to providing legal advice, assistance, and representation to Indian tribes and indigenous communities throughout the Americas. They are also committed to developing new attorneys in the fields of Indian law and international human rights law.
