Beyond the Traditional Fair

Bidding for the Beyond the Traditional Fair will open on Monday, October 15th. Sign-ups for one-on-one meetings with the employers will begin on Monday, the 22nd. Please review the document on Symplicity, in the Events section for full instructions and timeline.

Korean American Bar Association of Washington Scholarship

The Korean American Bar Association of Washington (“KABA”) offers a $4,000 scholarship to a law
student who has demonstrated a significant commitment to community service, particularly service to the
Korean/Korean American community. You need not be of Korean ethnicity to apply.

JUDGING CRITERIA
All applicants will be judged on the following criteria:
a. Community service and community involvement, particularly service to the Korean/Korean
American community;
b. Academic achievement, work experience, activities, and post-law school goals; and
c. Essay.
There is no minimum G.P.A. requirement.

KABA will select candidates to be interviewed.

SELECTION & NOTIFICATION
The scholarship recipient(s) will be selected and notified by the KABA Scholarship Committee.
The award will be presented at the KABA Annual Banquet in February 2013.

TIMELINE
Applications are DUE January 11, 2013
Finalists contacted for interviews No later than January 25, 2013
Interviews January 28 - February 1, 2013
Notifications No later than February

Beyond the Traditional Fair

What are you going to do with your JD?  Come explore the variety of career options a JD presents.  Meet with individuals who are applying their JD in fields such as human resources, contract management, policy analysis, investigations and regulations.  If you are considering a career outside the traditional practice of law, now or years down the road, then this fair is not to be missed.  The evening will start with a panel discussion on leveraging your JD into positions beyond private practice and move to scheduled meeting slots with JDs in roles such as :

•    Investigator with US Dept of Labor
•    Wealth Advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney
•    PMF Fellows
•    Equal Opportunity Specialist with US Dept of Housing
•    Contract Specialists, Human Resource Advisors, Recruiters with top NW companies such as Amazon, Boeing, etc

The Filipino Lawyers of Washington Scholarship

The Filipino Lawyers of Washington (“FLOW”) awards three $1,000.00 scholarships to law students

Federal Attorney Networking Event



On Thursday, 10/4, 5-7pm the Federal Attorney Networking Group – Seattle, more commonly referred to as FANGS, will be having a networking event at Fado (801 First Avenue).  This is a great opportunity to talk with current federal agency attorneys about their work and career paths.  There is room for 7 students to attend.  Please RSVP directly with Anna Dudek Ross – first come first served.   There will be other opportunities like this in the future so stay tuned!
