Business Law Section Oct. 22 Event Has a New Format

The Business Section of the WSBA has asked that the October 22 Speed Networking event be changed to a Panel and Reception event. The Section has asked several local business lawyers, representing a diverse range of practice types, to come to Seattle University Law School and discuss how to get into and develop a career in Business Law, and growing and emerging areas of practice for business lawyers. They regret any inconvenience this change may cause, but they are excited about working with the law school now and in the future on events involving students and practicing lawyers.

Please join us on October 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Gallery for a panel discussion and to meet the members of the panel. RSVP in Symplicity.

Equal Justice Works Scholarship DEADLINE CHANGE

If you are committed to or exploring the possibility of a career in public interest or government, please consider attending the Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair. As an added bonus this year, SU Law will be launching the D.C. Alumni Chapter that week and all students attending the Fair are invited. This is a great way to get an instant network of contacts in D.C. But, deadlines are upon us.

This year's Career Fair will be the weekend of October 24-25 in Washington, D.C. CPD and AtJI will be offering scholarship reimbursements of up to $250 for your attendance at the Conference and Career Fair and the launch of the SU Law Alumni Chapter, to take place on Thursday, October 22.

**Please note that the deadline to apply for the scholarship to attend has changed: it is now Friday, September 4 at noon.**
Applicants must submit a one page statement of interest and resume to Stacey Lara-Kerr (slara@seattleu.edu) by deadline to be considered for the scholarship. We will make every effort to inform applicants that they have recieved the scholarship as soon as possible.

The list of employers participating in this year's career fair is now posted on the EJW Symplicity page. This is NOT SU Symplicity - you must register for EJW Symplicity seperately. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the registration instructions and tips. Employers are accepting applications on a rolling basis, so APPLY EARLY to positions of interest. The deadline to apply for positions is Sept. 14 at 11:59 pm EDT. Please do not wait until then to apply for positions! In the past, demand on the last day to apply caused very long wait times for documents to upload and convert, which resulted in some students being unable to apply by the deadline. You may apply to an employer before you register for the conference.

Participating Employers Include (please note there are attorney and summer intern positions):
Public Interest: Southern Environmental Law Center; SEIU; National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty; World Organization for Human Rights USA, Human Rights & Anti-Terrorism Project; Electronic Privacy Information Center; Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc.
Government: US Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; Federal Trade Commission, Bureau of Consumer Protection; HHS Departmental Appeals Board; U.S. Department of Justice, Environmental Enforcement Section

If you would like to have someone in CPD review your job application materials prior to their submission, please contact Emily Von Seele (vonseele@seattleu.edu) or Stacey Lara-Kerr as soon as possible.
