Job Shadow Program Training

Tuesday, March 31
Noon in room 110

In conjunction with the Office of Advancement, the law school's Job Shadow Program will provide you with a firsthand look at the legal world outside the classroom. Past job shadow volunteers have invited students to witness depositions; hosted tours of a courthouse, their company, or law firm; and led informal discussions with office colleagues on the nature of their work. Please join us at a training session to give you the inside track on how to make the most of this experience. For those of you who cannot attend, the training is available for viewing on Media Law. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Junsen Ohno (ohnoj@seattleu.edu).

"Repaying a Different Kind of Loan"

Students and recent graduates sometimes hesitate to ask attorneys for informational interviews or coffee meetings, thinking that it's asking to much, but many attorneys view the time they give to students and new grads as a way to pay forward the advice and assistance they got early in their careers. For more on this, check out "Repaying a Different Kind of Loan" at NWSidebar.

CPD is here to help you learn about the give and take of networking. Come meet with us to help you craft an effective networking strategy.

VABAW Hồng Đức Clerkship: Work for a Top 10 International Law Firm and Live Abroad this Summer

The Vietnamese American Bar Association of Washington (VABAW) invites you to apply for the VABAW Hồng Đức Clerkship.

VABAW recognizes that an international perspective will greatly enrich and broaden a law student’s legal education and experience.  To that end, VABAW created the Hồng Đức Clerkship in 2007.  The 2015 Hồng Đức Clerkship will provide a law student with the opportunity to clerk at Hogan Lovells in Vietnam for a maximum of three summer months.  This is a unique opportunity to live in Vietnam and learn about international and comparative law by working at an international law firm.  The clerkship will award up to a total of $5,000, with approximately $2,000 applied to a round-trip airfare ticket to Vietnam and a maximum of $1,000 for each month of the clerkship paid directly to the clerkship recipient for living expenses.

Hogan Lovells became a top 10 global legal services provider on May 1, 2010 through an unprecedented merger of two firms with international credentials, U.S.-based firm Hogan & Hartson and UK-based firm Lovells.  Modern-day Hogan Lovells carries on the tradition of excellence established by its founders and further builds on their legacy.  After opening a representative office in 1994, Hogan Lovells became the first international law firm to open a full branch office in Ho Chi Minh City in 1996.  Today, Hogan Lovells works closely with its newly-opened office in Hanoi, offering a full range of corporate, intellectual property, projects and real estate, and construction capabilities to client companies operating in Vietnam.

This is a unique opportunity that is open to ALL qualified  JD or LLM law students at an ABA-accredited law school. Find more information at www.vabaw.com or by emailing SU Law alumna, Michelle Pham.
