The U.S. Department of State’s Pathways Internship Program has two internship opportunities open for U.S. Citizens, enrolled in high school, college, graduate school, and approved certificate programs, who want an opportunity to experience Civil Service work firsthand
Applications are being accepted through December 20, 2012 or until the first 250 applications have been received.
• The Internship Experience Program (IEP) is a non-temporary internship designed to allow students to work for the length of the academic program in which they are enrolled. At the successful conclusion of the program, interns may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position in the competitive service. Interns may work full-time or part-time schedules.
• The Internship Temporary Experience Program (ITEP) offers interns temporary appointments that allow for seasonal employment (during summers and holiday breaks from academic program) as well as year-round employment should their academic programs allow. These appointments are limited to a year or less with possibility for extensions in one-year increments. At the successful conclusion of the program, interns may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a Federal career or career-conditional position in the competitive service.
