Seeking Alumni Volunteers for "Who You Know" Virtual Coffee Breaks

As lawyers we know the adage, “It’s who you know,” can be very true, but it's often an intimidating idea to first-year students who might feel like they don’t know anyone. To show our 1Ls that they already know a talented and diverse network of attorneys who are invested in their success, Seattle University School of Law is inviting you, our alum, to sign up for a virtual coffee break with a 1L.

The commitment is just a half hour of your time and you’re welcome to use any virtual platform (FaceTime, Teams, Zoom, etc.) that works for you and the student. This is a great way to welcome a new member to the Seattle U Law community and connect with your alma mater. We don’t intend for this to be an ongoing mentorship commitment, just a one-time, get-to-know-you chat; so if you’re finding your days particularly full right now, this might be the perfect way for you to engage.

If you’d like to be paired with a 1L for a virtual coffee break, please email Erin Fullner, Director of Professional Development & Alumni Relations, by September 18. Later this month, you'll receive virtual networking tips to help you prepare, and the contact info for a 1L to reach out to. If you’re open to chatting with more than one student, please let Erin know.
