Social Justice Week / Lawyering in a Diverse World CLEs Free for Students

The following CLEs on October 15 are open and free for SU students. Community legal services providers will be attending so in addition to these being an important opportunity to learn about issues facing attorneys and clients, they're a great place to network with lawyers in your field of interest.

Poverty Law CLE featuring Interactive Poverty Simulation
10:00-5:00pm
* 10:00am – 11:30am: The Criminalization of Poverty: Lisa Daugaard, Deputy Director, The Defender Association
* 12:00pm – 2:30pm: Community Action Poverty Simulation: unique interactive workshop where participants role-play what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month. Students will gain awareness about the way in which various legal and social service systems come together in the lives of people living in poverty.
* 2:45pm – 4:15pm: Keeping Kids in School: Tackling the School to Prison Pipeline in Washington State: WSBA Juvenile Law Section Civil Legal Needs Committee and TeamChild
* 4:15pm – 5:00pm: Drug Court and Judicial Perspectives on Poverty: Wesley Saint Clair, King County Superior Court Judge
