DOJ Summer Webinars

The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Adjudication, Recruitment, and Management (OARM) is reaching out to announce the Attorney General’s Honors Program (HP) and Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) application opens on Friday, August 28, 2026. Applications must be submitted via the online application by Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. DOJ has many opportunities available for law students and eligible graduates for both programs.

In preparation for the application opening in late August, OARM invites law students and eligible graduates to a Wednesday Webinar Series highlighting participating offices. Office representatives will provide great information about their work, skills they are seeking, and application tips. We encourage you to join us to learn more about the offices participating in the HP and SLIP.

Department of Justice Association of Black Attorneys Summer Intern Lunch

The Department of Justice Association of Black Attorneys (DOJABA) would like to extend an invitation to summer interns, law clerks, and law students to attend the annual Summer Intern Lunch, July 12th 12:00-1:30p.m. Eastern. 

If you are interested in learning about entry-level employment and internship opportunities at the Department of Justice, this program is for you. 

The Office of Attorney Recruitment and Management will present, and then a panel of attorneys from across the Department will discuss their paths to DOJ. This hybrid event will be held in person at 175 N Street NE, Washington, DC, with the option to attend virtually as well. For those attending in person, lunch will be provided.

The IRS – Office of Chief Counsel is hiring attorneys for various legal divisions and is hosting a virtual recruiting event so candidates can interface with attorneys from different divisions. This session will focus on open positions for licensed attorneys.

A Day in the Life of an IRS Attorney

The IRS – Office of Chief Counsel is hiring attorneys for its various legal divisions and is hosting a virtual recruiting event which will allow candidates to interface with attorneys from the Office's different divisions.

Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP)

ABA Litigation Section Judicial Intern Opportunity Program Applications Accepted Starting November 6th The American Bar Association’s Litigation Section is a place where law students become engaged in the legal profession and where Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is advanced. One example is the Section’s Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP). JIOP is a summer internship program open to all first- and second-year underrepresented law students. Selected students intern for six weeks or more during the summer with a participating state or federal judge. The program offers a $2,000 award to each selected student. Students can also elect law school credit. Summer 2024 applications will be accepted for all students starting on November 6, 2023. The deadline for applying is January 12, 2024. Last year, JIOP offered internships to 159 law students representing 80 different law schools in locations throughout the country. The goal is to place 160 students during Summer 2024. Please review the program description and frequently asked questions. The program application and detailed program information will be live on the JIOP website on or after Nov. 6 at ambar.org/jiop. Apply early. Last year’s program had more than 770 applications. Screening interviews are guaranteed for the first 500 applicants. Other students will be screened on an as-needed basis. Before we head into the long weekend, we wanted to send a final reminder that the U.S. Department of Justice Attorney General’s Honors Program (HP) and Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) application closes on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 11:59 PM ET. Applications must be submitted via the online application and late applications will not be accepted. DOJ has many exciting opportunities, including over 200 permanent and time-limited, entry-level attorney positions as well as paid summer legal internships.

Learn About the Department of Justice Tax Division Honors Program & Summer Law Internship Program

The Department of Justice Tax Division invites students to join them for a virtual presentation on the DOJ’s Honors Program and Summer Law Internship Program positions. 

They'll offer a few tips on applying, as well as a discussion of the Tax Division, which is one of the best-kept secrets in the Department. The Tax Division was the second highest ranked organization within the DOJ in the 2022 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government Rankings.

Tax courses or experience are NOT required! The Tax Division, primarily located in Washington, DC, represents the US in criminal and civil litigation around the country. Tax Division attorneys gain hands-on litigation opportunities and the Division strives to build a collegial working environment that reflects the diversity of America.

There will be three presentations in August, before the SLIP and Honors Program applications are due on September 5. All law students are welcome to attend any of them. The information for joining each is below.
