SPRING ON-CAMPUS INTERVIEWING (OCI) STUDENT APPLICATION PERIOD NOW OPEN! APPLICATION DEADLINE: Tuesday, February 20 @ Noon Find this year’s opportunities under the OCI tab in Symplicity   What is Spring OCI? Spring OCI is an annual hiring program open to 1Ls, 2Ls, 3Ls, and LLM students. Many employers use Spring OCI to hire for Summer 2024 positions for 1L and 2L students. Other employers have posted potential school year and post-grad positions for 3Ls and LLMs. 26 employers are currently participating in the program and employer registration is still open. Make sure to routinely check for any new employers joining.   How Do I Apply? Students apply to Spring OCI positions through Symplicity. Log in and access the 2024 Spring OCI opportunities through the OCI tab; you will be able to view the opportunities specific to your class level. Once you identify opportunities you are interested in, you will apply to each opportunity individually. You will upload your application materials to Symplicity and then can submit them to each specific opportunity.   What is the Spring OCI Timeline? The student application period is now open and will close on Tuesday, February 20 @ noon. After the deadline closes, employers will receive application materials for review. Students will be alerted of interview offers on Wednesday, February 28 and will have until Noon on Thursday, February 29 to sign up for an interview. Interviews (either in-person at school or virtually) will be held March 5 – 7.  *Note: if an employer is marked as ‘Resume Collect’ that means they will interview according to their own timeline and will directly contact selected students themselves.   Your Application Materials Matter! The materials you submit to an employer serve as your first impression. Make sure it’s a good one! Work with a CPD counselor on your materials and start by reviewing CPD’s Preparing Materials page and aligning your materials with our suggestions and guidance.   CPD Document Review Policy Reminder Our goal is to review and return your documents with comments and suggestions as quickly as possible. During peak OCI (like now) we receive significantly more requests and may require up to 5 business days to provide feedback. Be sure to plan ahead and allow ample time to receive and implement our feedback before a deadline.   How Do I Download My Transcript? Some employers will request that you submit your law school transcript as part of your application materials.  Unless otherwise specified, an “Unofficial Transcript” is appropriate. Follow the simple steps below to properly download your transcript: Go to My Seattle U and sign in Click “Academics” Scroll down and click “Unofficial Transcript”, then click on “Law Transcript” This creates a pdf text page of your transcript that you can download and save to submit as your transcript for applications   Questions about Spring OCI? • Wednesday, March 1 at 8am: Selected students begin to schedule interview times 
• Thursday, March 2 at 12pm: Deadline for selected students to schedule interview times 
• Thursday, March 2 at 2pm: Employers receive interview schedule
• March 6 – 9: Interviews (in-person or virtual)

How to Register as an Employer

• OCI is managed through our Symplicity system; if you do not have an account, visit Symplicity, click on “Employer” and choose the Sign-Up option on the right side of the screen
• To register for OCI, first log in to Symplicity
• Once you log in, click on the “OCI” tab on the left side of the page
• Click on the “Schedule Request” tab, followed by the “Request A Schedule” button
• Complete the Schedule Request Form for the 2023 Spring OCI session and click “Submit”
• Requests will be reviewed in the order in which they are received, and you will be contacted accordingly.*

*Note: OCI programming will support both in-person and virtual interviews. If you would like us to collect resumes for your firm rather than interviewing on campus, please complete the Schedule Request Form, per above, and select “Resume Collection” rather than “Interview.”

Seattle University School of Law invites you to participate in our 2022 Recent Grad On-Campus Interviewing (RG OCI) program. 

• Interviews will take place the week of October 10
• Employers may elect to interview candidates virtually or in-person on campus
• RG OCI connects new graduates (December ’21 & May ’22) with employers looking to hire for attorney and JD-advantage positions
• RG OCI is specifically timed for after July 2022 WA State Bar Exam results are posted

Requests will be reviewed in the order in which they are received, and you will be contacted with confirmation accordingly.

Employer Registration for On-Campus Interviewing

The Center for Professional Development invites you to register for Seattle University School of Law’s 2022 Winter or Spring On-Campus Interviewing (OCI) Program. OCI is a great way to hire 1Ls and 2Ls for summer or school year internships and law clerk positions, and 3Ls for post-grad associate positions.

Winter OCI interviews will take place January 18-21 (virtual and in-person options are available); employer registration will remain open until December 15. 

Spring OCI interviews will take place March 7-10 (virtual and in-person options are available); employer registration will remain open until February 11.

OCI is managed through our Symplicity system. To register for an OCI, first log in to Symplicity.  If you have never done so, you must first create an account. Go to Symplicity to sign up. Please complete the form (fields marked with an asterisk are required) and be sure to select “OCI” in the “Services Requested” section. Please read and accept our policy affirmation in Symplicity. Click on the box below it before you click on the "Submit" button. A username and password will be sent to you via email so that you may continue to access the system.

Once you log in to Symplicity, click on the “OCI” tab on the left side of the page. Then, click on the “Schedule Request” tab, followed by the “Request A Schedule” button. Please complete the "Schedule Request Form" for the appropriate session and click “Submit.”

Requests will be reviewed in the order in which they are received, and you will be contacted accordingly.

If you would prefer for the Center for Professional Development to collect resumes for your firm or organization rather than interviewing on campus, please complete the "Schedule Request Form" (per the instructions above) and select “Resume Collection” rather than “Interview.”

2Ls, you're invited to a panel discussion with Perkins Coie attorneys that will provide concrete, specific advice for the coming winter on-campus interviewing (OCI) season. 

This panel of partners and recruiting professionals will share their tips and suggestions with a particular focus on preparing for interviews – both OCI and callback interviews – and then navigating those interviews and the post-interview process. 

This event is for 2L law students participating in interviews in late 2020 or early 2021.

Virtual Pre-OCI Mock Interview Program

Students will have the opportunity to practice interviewing skills with volunteer attorneys through the  Center for Professional Development's Virtual Pre-OCI Mock Interview Program. A mock interview is the best way to polish your interview style and refine your strategy for the upcoming on-campus interviews. Due to the ongoing challenges of COVID-19, mock interviews will be conducted virtually using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or another platform convenient to the attorney.

Practice interviews will last for 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of feedback. When possible, CPD will match you with a practitioner in your area of interest. Email Junsen Ohno for a list of volunteers and their availability. Once you've looked over the list, you'll share your top 4 choices with Ms. Ohno, along with a copy of your resume. Ms. Ohno will match you with an attorney who you'll reach out to directly to schedule a date and time to interview.
