The ABA's Judicial Intern Opportunity Program (JIOP) will begin to accept judicial internship applications from 2Ls on Monday,
November 4. Applications from 1Ls will be accepted starting
December 1. The deadline for all applications is Friday, January 10, 2014. No
applications will be accepted after the deadline and students are encouraged to
apply as early as possible. Applications will be considered on a rolling
basis. Only the first 500 applicants are guaranteed a screening
interview.
JIOP's mission is to provide
opportunities to students who are members of racial and ethnic groups that are
traditionally underrepresented in the profession. The program also provides
opportunities to students with disabilities, students who are economically
disadvantaged, and students who identify as LGBT.
JIOP will place 150 students in summer judicial internships. This year’s students
will each receive $2,000 to help offset the
expenses associated with the placement. For more info on participating courts visit the JIOP law students page and consult the FAQs.
