Business Boot Camp 2016

Seattle University School of Law is proud to offer an intensive one-day boot camp for legal professionals designed to build a basic foundation in real-world business skills. The course will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, in Sullivan Hall, Room C5, from 8:30 AM- 5PM and feature intensive study of:

• Finance and accounting principles
• Corporate management and strategy
• Current business models and the role of business plans
• The role of policies and procedures in company management
• How companies are structured and regulated
• How intellectual property strategies fuel today’s high-tech businesses

Important details:

The Business Boot Camp is part of Seattle University School of Law’s continuing efforts to bring entrepreneurship and business acumen into the legal curriculum. It is intended to provide a strong foundation on an expedited basis in the knowledge, skills and values promoted in other related offerings such as the Innovation and Technology LLM program, the Community Development and Entrepreneurship Clinic, the one week-intensive “The Lawyer's Role in Entrepreneurship and Innovation: An Immersion Experience” program and the Business of IP class.

The program is limited to students who will be 2L, 3L or 4Ls in the next academic year and recent graduates on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is no fee for the class, but registration in advance is required.

As a non-curricular program, attendees will not receive academic credit. Program content highlights essential and practical business concepts, but is not intended to replace the more intensive study of Business, Tax, and similar subjects provided through traditional Law School curricular offerings.

Colonel Randall Bagwell will be at SU to talk with students about leadership, ethics, and risk management.  In addition to skills necessary to being able to adapt to change, being successful in complex environments, and managing stressful situations. This is a small group discussion where students will be able to engage or observe, while learning about this career path and many skills that can be applied to a variety of careers.  Come join us in this opportunity to talk with Colonel Bagwell before he leaves Seattle for a position as the JAG dean in Virginia.

Preparing for the March 4th Small Firm Fair

Continue to check Symplicity as we add outstanding firms—Ahlers & Cressman, Saku Collins, Schulkin Rein, and other great additions will now be joining us.

On the day of the event please arrive in interview dress with resumes and business cards on hand. When you enter Campion Hall for the fair, check in at the student registration table to get a name tag before proceeding to the ballroom.

The purpose of this fair is to give you an opportunity to network with and gain knowledge from the 40+ firms and organizations in attendance. Do your due diligence and come prepared with strong questions for the attorneys.
