the William
L. Dwyer Inn of Court. One of the Inn of Court’s functions is to serve as
an educational and mentoring organization to law students who are dedicated to
the pursuit of high-quality, ethical lawyering.
ABOUT THE INN
The general Inn membership is made up of judges, professors,
law firm partners, prosecutors, defenders, and other lawyers with varying
levels of practice experience. The Inn meets on the Seattle U campus the second
Tuesday night of each of the nine months of the school year for dinner,
networking, and a continuing legal education (CLE) presentation. Students are
each assigned to one of seven sub-groups, called pupilages, where they work
with judges and lawyers in those groups to develop and help lead a CLE (each
pupilage presents one CLE for the year).
SELECTION CRITERIA
This is a competitive process. There are seven spots
available for Seattle University law students who will be 3Ls during the
2019-2020 academic year. Selection criteria include a demonstrated interest in
litigation and dispute resolution, participation in activities supporting that
interest, and a thoughtful and compelling cover letter.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Applications for membership in the William L. Dwyer Inn of
Court are due Thursday, April 18 by 5 pm. A resume and letter of interest
detailing why you would like to join the Inn can be emailed to Laura Spoor or delivered in person to
the Dean’s Offices on the law school’s 2nd floor. Address letters of interest
to Deborah Ahrens, William C. Oltman Professor of Teaching Excellence &
Associate Professor of Law, and Erin Fullner, Senior Associate Director of the

Shuttle Service for Students
Going Home
for the Holidays?
The Department of
Public Safety will be providing free shuttle rides from campus to
the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station. From there, travelers can take a
45-minute train ride directly to SeaTac Airport.
IMPORTANT DETAILS OF THE SHUTTLE
PROGRAM:
There is no need to sign-up for rides in advance. Simply arrive at the university seal (11th
and Marion) anytime during shuttle service hours. A university Nighthawk
vehicle will be stationed there with a driver on-site. If there’s no
vehicle present when you arrive, shuttle service is taking place, and a vehicle
will return shortly. Your wait time should be no longer than 15 minutes.
Passengers must be current university student,
faculty or staff, so be sure to have your campus ID with you when you arrive
for a ride. Present your ID to the driver and you will be invited to
board the vehicle.

Free Online Workshop on Social Security Disability Law
You are invited to join Acting Chief Administrative Law Judge David Hatfield and Ormson Law Training for a free online workshop on Social Security Disability law on September 25 at 10 am.The workshop will utilize a simulated case to explain a five-step sequential evaluation process used in determining whether an individual is disabled under the Social Security Act.
This workshop is being offered with recent law school grads in mind. Check out the program if you'd like to learn more about whether Social Security Disability law is a potential career path for you.
